2019- Seeking to Surrender.

I’ve never been a new year’s resolutions kind of person, but I do like the idea of a blank canvas. Maybe it’s because I’m an artist, or maybe it’s just because it’s a new adventure. Either way, I’m excited to see God move in new ways this year.

And since I’m ready to see God move in new ways, I know it’s time to grow in new ways. To do that, I selected a word (or a phrase) that makes me both excited and nervous because I know it WILL take me outside my comfort zone, and honestly, I hope it does.

The word (or phrase) God gave me for this year is Seeking to Surrender.

I want to seek Him with all I have and lay it all down at His feet, including fear and nervousness.

I want to learn to surrender my life and take up my cross.

And as I said, I want to step outside my usual space and do whatever He asks if it means obeying Him.

I have no idea where this is going to take me, but it says in Hosea 6:3, ” Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know Him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of the dawn or the coming of rains in early springs.” and in Jeremiah 29:13, “And you will seek Me and find me, when you search for Me with all your heart,” which means running full speed towards Him, no excuses.

My prayer for this year is that I would know Him better, that I would grow, and that I would see God do amazing things through me and around me. I won’t be able to stay in my bubble, but that’s ok because I know from experience that when we step outside of it and into God’s purpose, that is when we are the most fulfilled. And I know anything God calls us to do or calls us to walk through is not without purpose.

So, no. I don’t have a resolution. What I want is to know my Creator more, but that’s something that I pray will continue for a lifetime, no matter what year it is.

I encourage you to join me in seeking to know our God more this year even if your word doesn’t have anything to do with seeking, or you don’t have a word. And if you don’t, I would encourage also to pray and ask Him if He has one for you and trust me, He will make it clear when you have found the right one.

Be sure and ask me how mine is going throughout the year, too! 😊

I hope and pray you have a blessed New Year, friends! 😁
