The dream for this blog started a few months ago. I wanted (and still want) to do something for God’s Kingdom so desperately, but there are so many different things to do. My head was swirling with ideas. So much so, I couldn’t think and differentiate from one idea to another. They were all mashed up together in one ginormous ball of ideas, all unfinished. (like me, I kept thinking)
That’s when the lies started to come in.
Thoughts started to pop in and out of my head, and they left seeds. (Let’s call these thoughts what they really are, lies straight from the enemy.) I started to wonder if God said “I have forgiven you,” and where He said it. I started questioning God’s Word because I didn’t know it. You see, what I also didn’t know was that lies can only slip in when there’s no Truth to keep them out.
One day I got so darn tired of hearing these lies in my head, so I whipped out my Bible and started praying verses against Satan. And you know what? He didn’t bother me the rest of the day. Not one thought questioning God’s Word.
Now, don’t think he didn’t try again. He did, but God helped me to be prepared that time. I took out God’s Truth and prayed it again, out loud. I prayed that God would clothe me in His armor (Ephesians 6:13-18), I acknowledged that He cannot lie (Numbers 23:19), that the veil has been torn by His power (Matthew 27:50-51), and asked Him to help me have complete faith in His word. (and He did do this!!)
This does 3 things:
- It helps you to surrender the battle to God, so He can fight for you. (Exodus 14:14)
- It forces the devil to run because he can’t be where God or His truth is. (James 4:7)
- Lastly, it reminds you of His overwhelming power. (Job 26:13-14)
God will equip us for standing strong against the enemy and his schemes, but we have to let Him. He can prepare us, but we have to know what He says. We have to put on the belt of Truth each morning and stand on it as our foundation.
We cannot, as His daughters, live in a world where we are surrounded by lies that are threatening to steal our hope and consume us and not know how to keep them out.
I’m challenging not only you, but also myself to learn His word and His promises by heart, so that when the devil comes around, we are prepared and not caught off guard.
Choose one verse a week (or more), put it where you can see it (or multiple places you can see it), and ask God to in grain it on your heart.
Now is not the time to fool around. The enemy is very real but so is our God.
Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
Isaiah 26:3-4 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD God is an everlasting rock.
Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you: be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.
Isaiah 43:25 I, I am He who blots our your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
